The Malaysian Service Medal (Pingat Jasa Malaysia) is a medal given by the King and Government of Malaysia. Established 3 March 2004, the medal recognizes service by members of the Malaysian Armed Forces during the Malayan Emergency, Second Malayan Emergency, and the Indonesia–Malaysia confrontation.

The orders, decorations, and medals of Malaysia comprise a complex system by which Malaysians and qualified foreigners are honoured by the country's sovereign for actions or deeds that benefit their community or the country at large.

The PJM is a ‘Campaign Medal’ awarded to members of the Armed Forces and eligible foreign personnel according to the established criteria, regardless of whether they are currently serving or have retired/terminated their service, and whether they are still alive or have passed away.

In 2004, the Malaysian government offered Australia the Pingat Jasa Malaysia Medal to commemorate Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel who served to uphold the sovereignty of Malaysia during the Malayan Emergency and the Indonesian Confrontation.

The Pingat Jasa Malaysia Medal (or Malaysian Service Medal) is a medal given by the King and Government of Malaysia and established 3 March 2004. The award is in recognition of “distinguished chivalry, gallantry, sacrifice, or loyalty” in contributing to the freedom of independence of Malaysia.

The Pingat Jasa Malaysia (PJM) is a special medal of service to eligible United Kingdom Service personnel who served from Independence until the end of confrontation in the security of Malaysia, during the period 31 August 1957 and 12 August 1966 inclusive.

"Pingat Jasa Malaysia" can be translated as "The Malaysian Service Medal". The medal was offered at the end of 2004 to the Commonwealth countries who served Malaysia in her fight against aggression and terrorism.

Feb 16, 2009 · In 2005 the Government of Malaysia approached the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office seeking approval to issue a new medal, the Pingat Jasa Malaysia Medal to British Veterans and others who had served in operations in Malaya/Malaysia between the 31st August 1957 and the 12thAugust 1966.

PJM is a Campaign Medal which was conceived on 3 Mac 2004 with the blessing from His Highness Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di Pertuan Agong. PJM is also conferred to members of Commonwealth Armed Forces who have served in Malaysia between 1957 and 1968; a period of the Malayan Emergency.
