Its to vent the crankcase from gases that are able to leak past the piston and cylinder. Mine was made evident due to high pitched whistle after approximately 30 minutes of driving, Crack the oil filler cap and whistle disappears.

Mar 26, 2020 · I replaced my CCV with the CCV DIY that replaces the CCV with a traditional PCV setup. The setup was used on two e46's and I have never regretted it. The newer e46 when acquired needed some TLC and it had the usual yellow goop in the pipes. Once I replaced with the CCV/PCV DIY smells gone, goop gone and car runs awesome.

Dec 12, 2010 · Replaced the PCV, oil seperator, ccv, whatever its called along with all the hoses and the check engine light came back on after 30 minutes. I give up, i have no idea where to go from here.
