May 25, 2015 · the thing with P90's is, the closer the whole pickup to the strings, the better it sounds. what i usually do when i setup a P90's pickup is, raise the whole pickup closer to the string until i get the desired volume and then adjust the pole pieces to balances each strings volume, so no one strings is louder than the rest.

Apr 8, 2020 · A P90 is a single coil. So is a Strat pickup, or a Tele pickup, or a Hi-Lo Tron, etc. Single coil is, in itself, a very generic term that doesn't refer to any one specific pickup. There are a lot of very different types of single coil pickups. I like single coils. A P90 is my favorite single coil, but I only like them in the bridge position.

As with all things TGP, there were plenty of opinions to the effect that a humbucker sized P-90 can “never” sound exactly like a conventional P-90. Whatever….. if you have a HB route and want more of a P90 vibe, you do what you need to do.

Apr 8, 2020 · P90 pickups can definitely get fatter sounding than strat pickups. No surprise there. But the P90 guitars I’ve owned definitely don’t have the sparkle or cutting edge to the sound that my fenders have. it’s like comparing apples to oranges. Both can sound fat. Both can cut really well. But in different ways sonically.

They look the same in the pics, and have nearly identical specs.

I want to put Duesenberg pickups (humbucker + P90) into a Les Paul (2 volume, 2 tone, 3-way toggle). I'd like to have a push/pull pot that switches the middle position from series to parallel. In having trouble finding a wiring diagram for this, specifically.

May 18, 2015 · Lollar 50's wind are the best P90's I've tried. Put them in my Fano JM6 instead of the normal Fralins which I found too clunky for anthing but full on distortion The Lollars have made the the most versitile and best sounding guitar I have (it was the best playing on top of that so now it's even more amazing)

Jul 5, 2020 · As one poster suggested, though - make sure you explore pickup height, pots and caps first. After messing with pickups for a while, I realized that what I was actually not liking was the pot values in my P90 guitar. Saw an interview with Phil X where he said the key to a junior style p90 guitar is having 500k volume and a 250k tone knob.

Apr 12, 2017 · It seems to vary with the guitar. My Casino and my WildKat seem to be best with my AC15. My LP Special with P90s and my Century 1966 seem best with my Blues Deluxe. I haven't tried my P90 SG type yet, but I suspect it will be best with the Fender.
