Open riser stairs and modern stairs, how do they pass code
Sep 26, 2010 · Re: Open riser stairs and modern stairs, how do they pass code If those steps have a rise 0f 7", then the space in the open riser would be 4" or less and pass code. Looks to be a 9' ceiling, 16 steps, rise of 7 1/2" per step, looks feasible. That glass is most likely laminated AND tempered and again, the space between seems to pass muster.
Open to closed stair - JLC-Online Forums
Apr 11, 2007 · Re: Open to closed stair Chuck: Okay, I'll jump in. Assuming there is sufficient vertical overlap, meaning the nosing of the above tread extends a couple of inches forward of the back edge of the tread underneath, then I probably would pre-attach 3/4" x 3/4" cleats to the back top and bottom edges of the new risers, and screw the cleats up into the above tread, and down into the underneath tread.

Mitered skirt boards - JLC-Online Forums
Dec 15, 2002 · Recently I had to completely rebuild 9 sets of stairs with mitered skirt boards on the open side. What is the most efficient way to determine the cut angle where the level riser meets the inclined skirt board? The way I did it was to temporarily tack a piece of 1x for the riser thickness to the outside stair horse and using a staight edge extend the plane of the front and back of it to the top ...
Better method for cutting mitered skirt? - JLC-Online Forums
Mar 7, 2009 · I just finished up a stair today. (Need to do railing still) - 12 step, with the right side open with mitered tread returns and a skirt. I don't get stairs too often, maybe 1 - 2 a year. Treads and risers are oak, customer wanted white/painted skirts, so I used poplar. I am curious if most people circ saw for their mitered skirt?

stair question - JLC-Online Forums
Feb 14, 2017 · For many years I have been building deck stairs using a 2x10 cut stringer then putting a full 2x12 on the outside of it that covers up the end grain of the risers and treads. You need to cut all the risers and treads on a SCMS with a stop (unless you're real good with a circular saw) so they're consistent and then screw the 2x12's into the ...
