This logo, designed by Lippincott & Margulies, was trademarked on August 10, 1995, and was used as a rarely-seen secondary beginning in July 1996. Upon Sonic’s announcement of its "Sonic 2000" restaurant redesign campaign in 1998, it was finally rolled out in May of that year.
