The red-coloured 50 Rand banknote used to be South Africa’s highest value banknote. It has the portrait of Dutch colonial administrator Jan van Riebeeck on the front side. The backside of the old 50 rand bill shows South Africa’s wildlife, with animals including a lion, giraffe, springbok, wildebeest, zebra and antilope.

The R50 is well known as one of the smoothest and most reliable vintage motorcycles. Purchased from a long time East Coast collector who has owned the bike since new in 1964. This bike has only had two owners, the original owner and myself.

The BMW R50 was a series of motorcycles that debuted in 1956. The R50, along with its siblings, the R50/2 and R50US, was powered by a 500cc horizontally opposed twin engine. In the R50, this engine had an output of 26hp, which drove the rear wheel via shaft drive, which was connected to a four speed transmission.

Jun 11, 2015 · Though similar in weight to the earlier R50/2, the R50/5 gained 6 horsepower, giving it livelier performance, while the new frame and suspension improved handling. Moving the camshaft below the crank also meant the cylinders sat higher up, improving ground clearance.

This is a classic cafe racer-style BMW 1973 R50/5. This has the a rare "toaster" gas tank, and is a perfect example of the "airhead" models. It has been fully restored and is meticulously maintained.
