The OWLS-II assesses written language on two scales, Reading Comprehension and Written Expression, both for ages 5 to 21. New to the Second Edition, the Reading Comprehension Scale measures the receptive aspects of written language.

OWLS-II items are categorized according to the linguistic structure(s) they measure. These descriptive labels permit detailed, item-level analysis (outlined below), which can inform intervention. Item Analysis Worksheets are included in the LC/OE and RC/WE Record Forms.
