Orv Salmon steps downs as DMACC's Head Men's Basketball Coach but will remain as Athletic Director at the College. Salmon's teams compiled an overall record of 235-60 and two conference titles and two trips to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament in his nine years as a head coach at DMACC.

Shelton Colwell was part of Coach Orv Salmon's initial recruiting class. He helped DMACC compile an overall record of 60-10, back to back conference titles and helped the 2001-02 team to the NJCAA Final Four. A two time All-American, Colwell moved on to play Division I Basketball at Southwest Missouri State (now Missouri State).

Athletic Director Orv Salmon is retiring from DMACC at the end of June. He was honored at halftime of the men's final home game of the year.

B.J. McGinn enters his ninth year as the Director of Athletics for Des Moines Area Community College. McGinn came to DMACC in 2006 as an assistant men’s basketball coach for hall of fame Coach Orv Salmon.
