Noli is one of the best-preserved medieval villages in all of Liguria. The fortunes of this village date back to 1097 when it participated in the First Crusade and became a seafaring power, obtaining great privileges. In fact, Noli is known as the fifth maritime republic.

Noli (Italian: [ˈnɔːli]; Ligurian: Nöi [ˈnɔːi]) is a coast comune of Liguria, Italy, in the Province of Savona, it is about 50 kilometres (31 mi) southwest of Genoa by rail, about 4 metres (13 ft) above sea-level. The origin of the name may come from Neapolis, meaning "new city" in Greek.

Noli is a small resort, and one of the more attractive to visit along the Riviera di Ponente due to its setting, the sandy beaches, the castle and defensive walls on the hill above the town, and the medieval towers that dominate the historic centre.
