NOAA-4, also known as ITOS-G was a weather satellite operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). [4] It was part of a series of satellites called ITOS, or improved TIROS. [5] NOAA-4 images of cyclone Tracy. NOAA-4 was launched on a Delta rocket on November 15, 1974.

NOAA 4 (ITOS-G) was one in a series of improved TIROS-M satellites launched with new meteorological sensors on board to expand the operational capability of the ITOS (NOAA) system. The primary objective of the ITOS-G meteorological satellite was to provide global daytime and nighttime direct readout cloudcover data on a daily basis.
