Dr. Namanga Ngongi, a Cameroonian national, holds a PhD in Agronomy from Cornell University and has extensive experience in national and international affairs.

Dr. Namanga Ngongi is the founding chairman of the AFAP board of trustees. This is an honour that adds to the other accomplishments of his career that has included major contributions to agricultural development and international diplomacy.

Recognizing his diplomatic skills and commitment to humanitarian efforts, Dr. Ngongi was appointed as the undersecretary-general and special representative of the Secretary-General of the UN to the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 2001 to 2003.

Namanga Ngongi was President of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) from 2007-2012. He has diverse professional experience at national and international levels in areas related to agriculture, food security and management of international organizations.

Ngongi started his career as an agricultural extension officer in Cameroon, working as an Extension Officer and Deputy Head of Projects in the Ministry of Agriculture. In 1980, he was appointed Representative to the United Nations (UN) food agencies in Rome, as the head of East and Southern Africa service.

This follows after nine years of outstanding and dedicated leadership as the founding Chairman of the AFAP Board. Dr. Namanga spearheaded the creation of AFAP in 2012 and was appointed as Chairman in July 2012.

Susan Ngongi Namondo is a Cameroonian animal scientist, public administrator and diplomat, who serves as the United Nations' representative and coordinator in Uganda, since June 2021. Immediately before that, from 2017 until 2021, she served in the same capacity in Eritrea, based in the city of Asmara, the capital of that country.
