May 31, 2020 · Though Meruem wanted to talk it peacefully with Netero, I doubt Meruem would have distanced from his original plans and that was dividing humanity and chimera ants. Meruem was still a massive threat to humanity, he wouldn't be able to maintain balance because even at the time, HE never understood humans to that of his Post-Rose version.

Dec 17, 2021 · Netero had to die to really drill in the point of the mutual assured destruction of the poor man's rose. Otherwise the concept of humanity's potential for destruction would've fallen flat imo. For them to be able to kill Meruem, Netero needed to die or the threat of the chimera ants would've been severely underplayed.
