Flexible Power is a joint initiative from four UK Electricity Distribution Network Operators (DNOs); National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED), Northern Powergrid (NPg), Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) and SP Energy Networks (SPEN).

This dataset combines all the ECR data from each DNO to form a national picture. We have created a custom view to allow users to more easily visualise the distribution of generation connected to the DNO network across the country.

We are using the data set from NPg to compare the best locations for publicly available Electric Vehicle (EV) chargepoint sites, combined with data on EV vehicle uptake, likelihood of attracting commercial investment and on-street parking reliance.

There are 6 DNO groups in the UK currently, some examples of these are Western Power Distribution (WPD), Northern Power Grid (NPG) and UK Power Networks. Each DNO usually has a monopoly over a certain area in the UK, NPG covers Yorkshire and the North East, for example.
