BN GP18 1994 was built as the NP 380 in June of 1960. It was one of nine GP18's NP purchased numbered 376-384. These 1800 HP GP18's built by EMD were assigned to the Rocky Mountain Division based out of Livingston, MT, Around 1967 the 380 was equipped with radio control for mid-train helper service.

Dec 26, 2024 · Running as Extra 378 west out of Northtown on the double track across Minnesota... they could become superior to a passenger train or a second section of a passenger train which would then display green class lamps for a second section following... or perhaps they might even run in the place of a passenger train thus fulfilling its schedule!!!

New as GP18, NP 380. Took the number 1994 for BN. After retirement, it passed to the KWT Railroad as KWT 303 before being sold to the Louisiana and Delta Railroad as LSDR 1846.

New to Northern Pacific, this GP18, 38# passed into the BN fleet as 1997, later being re-engineered to become a GP28M before entering the BNSF roster as 1525. The date and location of this Norman Starratt image is unknown.

Athearn Genesis has announced new GP-18 Diesel Locomotives. Burlington Northern (BN) PROTOTYPE INFO. The EMD GP18 began production in late 1959 and was based on the builder’s extraordinarily successful GP9, although the latter model was still in production at the time. The GP18 is considered the last of the builder’s “first generation” models.
