Feb 9, 2023 · I’m currently a GS-11 step 1 and got an offer for an NH-3. My current ladder is to GS-12, however the NH-3 position is in a place I would like to live in. What are the pros and cons of the NH scale as compared to the GS? Is it better, worse? Is it worth it to transfer over if its an agency/job/area I’m interested in? Can I negotiate my pay coming in?

May 12, 2022 · I know what the NH pay scale is but I am just curious about anyone that actually has it. Is it better than GS? Worse? I at local gov now thinking of going to a federal position that has the NH pay grades. My current job is a step/grade style.

The position I was offered is a supervisory, GS 15 equivalent. Since the NH pay band is a range and encompasses two grades, I'm not sure how pay is determined or if I can negotiate for a higher salary. Anyone have experience with this? Is it an exact 1:1 conversion of GS pay or is there some wiggle room when determining salary?

I am considering applying for a supervisor position soon and would then be a NH-03 in Acq Demo. Feb 6, 2023 · That being said if your job has promotional potential to a NH-3 then that’ll be on your horizon. It’s honestly beneficial to come in low in the NH scale so that you capitalize on the hefty annual raises this pay band affords. If you came in as a NH-3 (basically a GS-12 Step 1) you can easily get a 10% raise per year until you cap yourself out.
