Mount Eden Vineyards
Mount Eden’s estate vineyards began to be developed in 1945 by the legendary vintner Martin Ray on a rugged mountaintop in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Today, the site consists of 40 acres of low-yielding Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines.

Originally planted in the early 1950s, our Cabernet Vineyards are the longest producing Cabernet vineyards at elevation in any coastal appellation. The combination of our cool coastal climate and mountain soils produce a wine like no other in California. 2017 was a fabulous year for our estate.

We are perched in the coastal Santa Cruz Mountain range, just 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The cool east-facing position of our Cabernet vines, their altitude (1600 feet) and the primary soils that have emerged as the mountain has evolved give these grapes a matchless terroir.

2021 Mount Eden Estate Bottled Pinot Noir, Santa Cruz Mountains
Despite the record-setting drought, our 2021 Estate Pinot Noir turned out beautifully. Appropriate deep ruby color with engaging aromas of raspberry, sandalwood and brown spices, this Pinot is multilayered across the palate, with flavors of bright soft red fruits and a touch of anise.
