Feb 6, 2020 · Overall, I believe the scarf is much more likely an indication of Mikasa's death than Eren's. The reasoning behind my belief is that the scarf wouldn't be much related to Mikasa killing Eren. She could kill him with or without the scarf and it shouldn't be any issue.

Feb 24, 2022 · Alright, so we all know the value that old scarf has for Mikasa, holding onto it since she was a kid and still doing so till the day she died. Eren giving her the scarf Mikasa's funeral. The scarf really has no importance to the plot at all, but it does hold great significance.

Mikasa kept the scarf to remind her of Eren. She had it since small and wont toss it. Like someone favorite security blanket from grandma. Only time she put it down was when she was upset with him. Then took it from a dying girl in a hospital.

Aug 1, 2023 · While these are both logical and likely intentional artistic choices, I would like to think that the darkened scarf is also a reference to manga Mikasa, which we know canonically has a black scarf. And of course, we know that she creates another reality again. Basically manga Mikasa has a godlike power from the founding vow (see video above).

Mikasa holding onto the scarf is symbolic of Mikasa remembering Eren, and keeping him in her heart even after she moves on and gets married. Mikasa's future husband is obviously important to her, but Eren fundamentally changed her life. For him to ask her to forget about him is the exact opposite of what Mikasa would want.

Sep 12, 2019 · Mikasa's red scarf was given to her by Eren on the day she was reborn after she lost everything dear to her. In the manga, Eren cruelly told Mikasa that she was a slave to him due to her Ackerman blood and he hated her due to her not being "free".

Jan 21, 2021 · Louise is deemed Mikasa's Mikasa by many in this sub noting the similarities between LM (Louise-Mikasa) and EM (Eren-Mikasa). These similarities include Both being saved by someone that they both ended up viewing in admiration- Eren saved Mikasa from her kidnappers and Mikasa killed a titan that was going to trample Louise.

This is the opposite of what Mikasa is doing now, she is not following Eren’s footsteps she is going against him not only because of the things I previously mentioned but also in that very scene/moment because she took back the scarf after having heard that Eren wanted it …
