You may be able to do a wet sand, buff, and wax restore if the metal flake is silver... maybe. If the metal flake is a different color than silver it won't work, you'll sand the color off of the metal flake and it'll turn silver.

Jun 19, 2009 · Re: Gel Coat with faded metalflake You have three options. Leave it as is... easy Re-gel coat... Lots of work, its a three step processes. First a color base coat is sprayed, over that a flake/clear gel coat mix is applied, the third step is a layer of clear gel coat.

Mar 30, 2011 · It's a great forum and has helped answer many questions. Attached are some photos of the metallic gel coat on my Cajun bass boat. Can the scratches be rubbed out or should I sand them out? Also below the water line, the surface of the paint is covered with white spots. Has the gel coat been breached or can it be cleaned up?

May 31, 2012 · Let harden then apply three coats of clear gel coat and duratec high gloss additive 1:1 mix plus catylis leaving 1/2 hr. between coats. 4th and final coat they say to mix 1/4 pot (1/2 and 1/2 clear and high gloss) and then 1/2pot of Patchaid plus catylis.

Dec 25, 2007 · Take a close look at the surface with a magnifying glass. Is it aluminum specks at the surface? If so, I'd clean it with thinners, get some clear 2 part epoxy resin, mix a bit and coat a small area 1/8" thick. That will cover the rough surface. If it works well, do the rest. I think it will.
