For someone new to Mathcad its very often a subject for confusion. In prime, btw, the literal subscript is achieved by typing "Ctrl -" a bit awkward unfortunately. But the enhancement is that in contrary to MC15 you can switch back and forth between normal and subscripted characters - especially usefull for chemists, I guess.

In MathCAD 15 - I can write " Force.1", after point MathCAD represents visually the part of variable as literal subscript.

If you use the subscripts mainly for typing a variable names in the text, you could press Ctrl Shift A to insert a math region and type the variable name as you would in an equation, with the "."

Having recently 'upgraded' from Mathcad 13 (which annoyingly won't install on my new PC running Win 7), it's become clear that Mathcad has gone backwards with subsequent releases. Looks like Maple or Mathematica might be the way to go. Not sure what's gone wrong. Happy days!

If I copy the text term from the converted Prime 8 file that originally had a subscript from Mathcad 15 and paste it into a MS Word document, it displays properly as a subscripted text field! Aug 22, 2017 · The * should either be a subscript or superscript of U. sometimes could be a bar over it or any other symbol like a prime. I see that in Mathcad Prime 3.1 I am limited to just letters as subscripts or superscripts only but not symbols. I also want to do U' (primes) too equal to something but Mathcad Prime 3.1 wont let me.
