With the exception of Mondays, MASP opens normally on holidays, except December 24 and 25 (Christmas holiday) and December 31 and January 1 (New Year’s holiday), when it remains closed. Any change in hours is normally posted on the museum’s social media channels.

The Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP) is a private not-for-profit museum founded in 1947 by business mogul and patron of the arts Assis Chateaubriand (1892–1968), becoming the first modern museum in the country.

MASP is currently considered the most important art museum in the Southern Hemisphere, with about 10,000 pieces of art from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas including Brazil, from time periods spanning from antiquity to the 21st century and including paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, clothing and other media.
