Trollblocks are any hidden block designed to hinder the player, whether or not they cause instant death. They're excusable in scenarios where hitting one is just an inconvenience or causes a player to miss a power-up or 1-up (see Super Mario World's Forest of Illusion water stage's hidden 1up block.)
