Sheriff Brown is the first African-American Sheriff in Dallas County and one of only five African-American female sheriffs in the United States. Sheriff Brown began her career in law enforcement in 1988 with the Duncanville Police Department.

DALLAS (Sept. 18, 2023) – Incumbent Dallas County Sheriff Marian Brown announces she will seek re-election in 2024. First appointed in December 2017 by Dallas County Commissioners, Sheriff Brown went on to be elected in 2018 and 2020, and now will seek her second full term.
