Feb 9, 2022 · I like either brake but prefer Magura MT7 for overall feel. For ease of set up and maintainence, definately Shimano has Magura beat. Maguras take a lot more effort to get set up often requiring several bleeds before you get a proper feel at the lever. Caliper alignment can be more difficult than other brakes.

Dec 16, 2020 · One follow up to help others - I got an email back from Magura direct - the MT5, MT5estop, and MT7 calipers are exactly the same as a few people have mentioned. Then difference is pads (MT5e having sport, MT5 having comfort) and the MT7 has a pad retention bolt rather then a pin ?

May 28, 2020 · Personally I've had 3 bikes with Magura MT series brakes including the MT5 that I upgraded by using the MT7 style pads using a combo of EBC Green and Gold pads and learned how to bleed them according to Magura's own excellent videos.

Dec 20, 2018 · I changed to the Magura MT7 on my TL 2017 and had no problems doing this. It even should be easier at the 2018 Levo, because of other, bigger frame-holes. I have held a flashlight in the innerside of the frame towards the holes to see the light from the outsight of the frame. Then i moved the cable slowly to the hole and pushed it through.
