Akantor is a Flying Wyvern introduced in Monster Hunter Freedom 2. The Akantor is a massive, vaguely snapping turtle-like wyvern that dwells in magma. Akantors are covered with massive reddish black spikes and durable shells, and have both large sharp claws on their legs but also a similar structure on its tail.

A wyvern shrouded in mystery and known by many names -- "the black god" to some, "the tyrant of fire" to others, but usually called "Akantor" by the Guild. Its giant spines and tusks make for a fearsome sight in the volcanic areas it frequents.

Once considered an Elder Dragon due to its sheer power, Akantor is an Elder Dragon-Level Monster that is feared by the Guild. Its closest known relatives are Ukanlos, and Odibatorasu. Akantor are nomadic in nature, meaning they can be found just about anywhere though Akantor have primarily been found in areas within Volcanoes.
