Jan 2, 2021 · It's a frequrent problem with the TD/TF box. The gearbox needs to come apart, of course, for a thorough rebuild. Then pay particular attention to first gear, and the laygear and shaft. The sliding hub often has too much play. You can check and replace the detent springs, or better, replace the entire 1/2 shaft and associated balls and springs.
