The M72 LAW (light anti-tank weapon, also referred to as the light anti-armor weapon or LAW as well as LAWS: light anti-armor weapons system) is a portable one-shot 66 mm (2.6 in) unguided anti-tank weapon.

The Nammo M72 Enhanced Capacity (EC) combines decades of innovation and Nammo expertise to deliver a world-leading close combat weapon. The system is disposable, easy to operate, extremely lightweight and powerful. The M72 EC can penetrate up to 450 mm RHA.

The M72A2 LAW, capable of penetrating 200 mm of armor, and its modifications, including the M72 EC Mk.1 with a penetration capability of up to 450 mm of armor, as well as the M72A6 and A7 variants designed for engaging lightly armored targets, demonstrate the flexibility and power of this type of armament.

Designated as the M72, a 66 mm rocket launcher offers significant firepower in a small package weighing less than 4 kilograms (8.8 pounds), facilitating Soldiers or Marines being able to carry two, or even three, on patrol.

Jul 31, 2023 · The M72 fires a single 66 mm HEAT (High-Explosive Anti-Tank) rocket. It has a muzzle velocity of 480 feet per second, with a minimum range of 33 feet and a maximum of 3,300 feet. In terms of effectiveness, the weapon is best used within 220 yards against stationary targets and 180 when fired at one that’s moving.

May 22, 2020 · The M72 EC LAW, which features an on-axis trigger and a rail for mounting optics to improve accuracy and weighs in at 3.4 kilograms by utilizing a carbon composite tube, will supplement the AT-4 CS (M/97) and Carl Gustav M3 (M/85) now in service.

Jul 30, 2024 · The Malaysian Army is reportedly set to acquire approximately 800 units of the M72 LAW-EC (Light Anti-Tank Weapon-Enhanced Capacity) to replace its current RPG-7 anti-tank weapons.

The M72-series LAW is a lightweight, self-contained, antiarmor weapon consisting of a rocket packed in a launcher (Figure 2-1, page 2-2). It is man-portable, may be fired from either shoulder, and is issued as a round of ammunition. It requires little from the user-only a visual inspection and some operator maintenance.
