Mar 20, 2005 · In short, I've learned that the BX8s are not simply bassier versions of the BX5s. They have sometimes gotten very different reviews, even from the same mag. (One example: the recent Future Music monitor shoot-out rated the BX5s higher than the more expensive 8s.) Try to find these and other reviews and give a listen if at all possible.

Feb 19, 2003 · Do you think it would be worth the hassle to buy the BX8 and resell the BX5? I'm thinking I'm always better with bigger cones, especially if I want to play bass through them. I'm afraid I could eventually damage the 5" cones if I stress them too much with bass.

Mar 15, 2015 · The M-Audio BX8 has a very crisp, but flat sound that is perfect for mixing. With the BX8, you’ll get a nice accurate sound that is well balanced. A big part I like about the sound is that during long studio sessions you won’t get ear fatigue.

Jul 31, 2008 · M-Audio really got the mids right. I'd say its the best quality of these speakers (along with good stereo image in the sweet spot). The sweet spot despite the (HF wave guides) is not huge, you pretty much need to be in the sweet spot otherwise they become phasey and unbalanced gradually.

Mar 31, 2016 · From what I understand, the HS8 is more flat and probably higher quality, whereas the BX8 has a fuller bass and seems a bit more akin to a PA system. I mix psytrance and techno. Does anyone have any suggestions and/or pros and cons regarding these two monitors?
