Omega Lutra yeast? - Homebrew Talk
Sep 8, 2020 · I second this. The whole point of Lutra is that it’s “shockingly clean.” The whole point of intentionally underpitching is to the stress the yeast and encourage ester development. Seems counterintuitive. I really, really like the one beer I made with Lutra. I pitched the whole pack, no starter, and doubled the yeast nutrient.
Non-Lager Styles with Lutra Kveik - Homebrew Talk
May 16, 2021 · The lutra was cold conditioning/serving 11 days for this pic. The kölsch had been conditioning 7 days. Also worth noting the lutra went 4 points lower in attenuation. The Lutra is on the left and Kölsch on the right. Kölsch is visibly clearer already, even though the pics don't show it.
General Attenuation Question: Lutra Kviek - Homebrew Talk
Jun 3, 2020 · I've used Lutra Kviek about 4 times other than the beers below and I seemed to have hit my other FG numbers accurately. The last three batches I've made using using Lutra Kviek (dry) and a similar grain bill (Crisp Maris Otter as the principal) have all fermented out typically .005 above what was calculated by my brewing software.
Dried Lutra Kviek - Homebrew Talk
Dec 22, 2021 · I used Dried Lutra Kviek yeast in an 5 gallon extract IPA recipe that I had done a couple of times before. I wanted to try it due to being able to ferment it at a room temperature of 74-76 degrees. I have only one minifridge to use for temperature control, and that puts me buying store bought beer on a regular basis as I am waiting for the ...
Omega Lutra for West Coast IPA - Homebrew Talk
Aug 14, 2020 · I'd planned to ferment at the low end of Lutra (68F~70F) for super-clean performance, but based on your experience it looks like I can go quite a bit higher and finish faster. I'm still a little hung up on the idea of having to raise temperature for a few days to "let the yeast clean up after themselves."
Kveik Lutra vs US05 experiment - Homebrew Talk
Sep 22, 2022 · The Lutra nose is overipe banana mixed with overripe orange. I want to say rotten but overripe seems more diplomatic. Doesn't smell good. The taste pretty much follows the nose. The mouthfeel of the Lutra seems heavier/more viscous and has a weird subtle sour twang. The 05 is light, sweet and crisp with a subtle citrus character from the hops.

Jul 15, 2020 · However, I have to say that I may actually prefer the Lutra Oktoberfest--the keg emptied in record time in our house. I will absolutely use this yeast again. While 34/70 can be used at near-ale temps and does not seem to require typical lagering condition durations, especially under pressure, Lutra is easier, quicker and tastes fantastic.
Slow bottle carbonation Lutra Kveik yeast issue? or temperature?
Jan 26, 2022 · I recently made a pair of 1 gallon batches using Lutra (my first try with the yeast). The beers were in the fermenter for 2 weeks before I got to bottling them. For the sake of science I opened one after 4 or 5 days in the bottle. It was well carbonated and tasted good enough for me to open a second.

Nov 15, 2021 · Got the itch and tried Lutra in a cream ale. Tried a different technique that I haven't used yet due to all of the mentions of pressure fermentation being clean with Lutra. I fermented without an airlock. I used a bucket fermenter with a transfer hose in the air lock hole. I put a piece of sanitized foil over the hose and let it ride at room temps.
Lutra Kveik and Diacetyl - Homebrew Talk
Dec 24, 2021 · So I am a newer homebrewer. I don't have temp control and have been really excited about Kviek yeasts for this reason. I have used Voss on a Black IPA and an Amber ale with ZERO issues with diacetyl. I have just recently went thru 2 batches of a Golden/Blonde Ale using Lutra. My temps in the ferm room range from 68-72 on both occasions.
