Loon Lake Campground is situated on the south shores of Loon Lake, and attracts many visitors with its variety of campsites and beautiful waterfront setting. Popular activities include boating, swimming, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and exploring off-road vehicle trails.

Loon Lake Complex has three group campgrounds including an group equestrian camping area. Location: 23 miles east of Placerville on Highway 50 and 29 miles north on Ice House Road (Forest Road 3) on the south side of Loon Lake.

Loon Lake Chalet is situated next to Loon Lake in a granite bowl, and offers year-round, drive-to access for excellent backcountry skiing and hiking. The three-story chalet boasts excellent views of the Sierras and the lake.

Loon Lake offers uncrowded fishing around a beautiful Sierra lake in the Crystal Basin of Eldorado National Forest. Loon Lake is 29 miles north of Highway 50 at a well-marked turnoff 9 miles east of Pollock Pines.

Sub-alpine red fir and lodgepole forests, granite bowls, and a spectacular view of the Crystal Range of the Sierra Nevada Mountains characterize the area. The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) built the Loon Lake Chalet in 1989.

May 7, 2018 · Besides trekking through forests, the Loon Lake Trail also traverses open areas surrounded by granite. Take a pair of waterproof boots if you hike the Loon Lake Trail, as some parts of the trail are covered with water. The views of Loon Lake can be stellar in the summertime.
