The Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet is a rocket-powered interceptor aircraft primarily designed and produced by the German aircraft manufacturer Messerschmitt. It is the only operational rocket-powered fighter aircraft in history as well as the first piloted aircraft of any type to exceed 1,000 kilometres per hour (620 mph) in level flight.

The Lippisch P.20 was a proposed World War II German fighter aircraft. The P.20 design of April 1943 was an attempt to further develop the rocket-powered Me 163 interceptor into a turbojet -powered fighter. The design was the final one by Alexander Lippisch whilst working for the Messerschmitt company.

It was in drawings dated September 14, 1941, that the unmistakable Komet shape finally emerged. This design was labeled the Lippisch Li 163. It was to have an armament of four 30 mm cannon and a wing span of 30 ft 2 in (9.20 m) and a length of 18 ft 8 in (5.70 m), very similar to the dimensions of the Me 163B.

Train 254 with MP 15 163 leading goes past the old Deer Park station en route to the end of its run in Ronkonkoma. The station here is no longer in use for passengers, having been supplanted by the new high level station built as part of the Ronkonkoma electrification. It will be kept for the freight crews and MOW.
