By the end of The Blood of Olympus, Leo secretly rebuilt Festus, building him a new body in the Argo II. After Leo sacrifices himself to stop Gaea, Festus brings him back using the Physician's Cure. Festus continues to serve Leo who designs the dragon to be easily rebuilt before the events of The Dark Prophecy.

Festus is an old automaton dragon created by the Hephaestus Cabin a long time ago in order to protect Camp Half-Blood. He serves as Leo Valdez 's main mode of transportation and, for awhile, the masthead of the Argo II following his destruction.
