Aug 19, 2016 · Cheap leather can leave you blaming the dye or technique, when you should really be addressing the material. Just a heads up. I have a hide from tandy also, I bought it just for the heck of it to see what it would look like , I thought i would use it for tool holders on my belt.

Pro dye is used as a better alternative to leather dye, however if you mix leather dye into prime neatsfoot oil then it will dye your leather while conditioning it simultaneously and it even dyes more easily and is better and more cost effective then pro dye.

Mar 29, 2009 · I'm new to leather work, and I can't seem to find this information anywhere on Fiebings or Tandy's websites or product containers. How long should you wait in between dyeing and applying a top coat finish? If it makes any difference, I have dyed a knife sheath with Fiebing's Dark Brown Pro Oil dye, and the finish I'm using is Tandy's Satin Sheen.

Jan 11, 2010 · I had made several ohm meter cases and they wanted them dyed brown. I started running low on dye and thought I would thin the dye for the last case. I thinned the dye with rubbing alcohol, then daubed on the dye to the leather. After it all dried, the case shrunk and appeared burned. These were the days before my air brush.

Sep 8, 2019 · Orange is too bright and rich. You need to get some of that intensity out. Dilute with Dye reducer or alcohol. If that doesnt get you far enough then set some aside and try mixing in a drop or two of blue or black dye.

I bought he suede dye Grey and it is not good for a belt leather. I have tried to dilute the black dye with alcohol and not having much luck. Perhaps I put toooooo much balc in then not enought alcohol.

Oct 5, 2013 · I just once used some antik finish to handle a little dent in journeyman´s piece (a chest made of (natural) dyed oak) and it worked just fine. But I got no experience with dying a whole piece with leather dye. Just some hints from my side: - Be sure that it might (!) happen, that the colour will turn out to be not as even as you expect it.

May 9, 2019 · buy pre-dyed leather? try making your own dye? I only use Feibing's Acrylic dye as I cannot import the Pro-dye either. I just get on with the acrylic dye. And I've used some of Tandy's Eco-dye as well. ~Used proper its ok. Edited May 13, 2019 by fredk

Jan 4, 2013 · The Fiebing's dye is pretty good, lots of folks around here using it. The airbrush is a quality tool. It will work for small projects,but if you think you'll be doing larger projects in the future, you might consider a siphon feed model. The gravity feed will not hold much dye, and you may find yourself filling it more than you wanted to.

I am looking to make colors like indigo/navy, maroon/dark red, and dark green. What is the best way to achieve this? I use feibings pro oil dye now, but I am completely open to suggestions. Thanks.
