In April of the year 1978, the Latin Eagles were invited into the Folk alliance after the alliance was formed in the prison system during a hunger strike. This alliance brought the Latin Eagles close to the Black Gangster Disciples that were key in forming the Folk alliance.

In the 1960s the Latin Eagles and Paulina Barry Community were the big gangs dominating the neighborhood. In the 1970s Latin Eagles, Insane Deuces, PBCs, Simon City Royals and P.R. Stones ran this neighborhood.

In the year 1978, YLO united with the Imperial Gangsters and the Latin Eagles to create the United Latino Organization which bound these 4 gangs into a governing alliance.

In the midst of the war between Harrison Gents and Latin Eagles, the Latin Eagles killed the leader of the Gents which angered the Gents; however, they did not get revenge until 1975 when they burned down the house of a Latin Eagle gang member near the intersection of Fremont and Addison in the Wrigleyville section of the Lake View neighborhood ...

In the year 1964, the majority of the Emerald Knights became Latin Eagles, a well-known organization still in existence today. In the year 1964, the Latin Kings moved to 57th and Halsted, just two blocks from the Sharks.

Back in the 1970s the terms really started to surface as several gangs used the terms “Almighty” that included Simon City Royals, Insane Popes and Latin Eagles. Almighty was used by the Popes since the 1950s and the Royals caught on in about the mid-1970s.

On Saturday March 10, 1979, the P.R. Stones made a name for themselves when they gunned down the leader of the Latin Eagles in broad day light in the middle of a busy shopping area.
