"Leave It to Lassie and the Beavers" (10/11/64): New assistant district ranger Hank Whitfield has his baptism of fire after cantankerous Maude Lester threatens harm to the beavers who have dammed up the source of the stream that provides her ranch with water.

Lassie battles the wild dogs for her injured friend, hides him in a cave, obtains food for him by springing a trap, and leads the hunters away from him before accompanying him back to the ranger station where he finds a new home.

At the opening of the 11th season, a job transfer sees the Martins moving to Australia and having to leave Lassie behind in the United States. After a brief stay with family friend Cully Wilson, Lassie joins Corey Stuart (Robert Bray), a ranger with the United States Forestry Service.
