Nov 9, 2024 · Looking at a Google image on the LSRC YARD, at Saginaw. Anybody know what the 6 blue/ white locos are to the EAST side of the roundhouse are doing there, along with the old 469??

Engine #469 is still in its old Detroit & Mackinac Railway colors, built 9-1946. They were the 1st Railroad to fully dieselize from steam! This is one of their 1st diesels! I've never seen it run, this is the best that I've done! It's worth saving of course!

According to the Kalmbach Shortline Guide (published 96), the Lake State operates freight service from Bay City, MI to La Rocque and from Pinconning to Gaylord plus three branch lines.

Oct 30, 2007 · #466 is currently dormant but in-tact in White Pigeon, MI. It was sold to the Tuscola and Saginaw Bay RR by the D&M before being sold to it's current owner, which I believe is the Michigan Southern (MSO).

5 days ago · Save Detroit & Mackinac /LSRC ALCO RS2 #469 from scrap. 974 and 975 are Morrison Knudsen rebuilds with the 251 engine. 469 is an original D&M RS-2, one of the very early RS-2's built. My understanding is that 469 and 974 are in Saginaw and will be "scrapped last" on a timetable unknown to me, but "rather soon" was my impression. 975 is in Alpena.

Nov 7, 2010 · #469 is a 1946 ALCO RS2 and one in their order of 5 locos that year they dieselized. It ran Michigan's east shore for 60 years and I believe it is the last RS2 of this group in Michigan that hasn't been scrapped. (There are only a handful left in the country.) #469 is near operational too. Mr. Garrett is an ALCO fan and seems reasonable enough.
