Don't take advice on an LS7 from a guy who says a Z51 is comparable to a GS. It's a sticker package with sway bars and brakes. It's not even widebody. LS7 heads are easy to address and not that expensive if budget is a factor. It's just that most people also swap cam, intake, and headers at the same time.

A LS7 typically makes 420-455whp (depending on car/dyno). It’ll do that with a smaller cam than a similar whp LS1 because of the size difference. Jun 15, 2020 · Sure, but the LS3-525 makes 525 crank horsepower out of 6.2L, which scaled for displacement would translate to 592 crank horsepower in the LS7 even before accounting for the increased redline, the superior valves, etc. Normally I would be loath to make a displacement-vs-displacement comparison, but it makes far more sense when comparing engines inside the same family (gen 4 small block chevy).

Depending on the car, this much power is really not usable in most street settings. And a LS7 is just stupid expensive, for not a lot of good return. You might be better off using an aluminum 5.3 Gen IV block sleeved for a larger bore, and using aftermarket heads that will generate a flow curve more suited for hi powered street use than LS7 ...

So the is year I took the car to the Syracuse nationals and came back, car ran fine. I went to a local car show and as I parked the intake valve dropped and went though the head. I took them back to the machine shop and asked why.
