Latrobe Regional Gallery presents an exciting program of contemporary art for our region and visitors to enjoy. Discover one of the largest public galleries in eastern Victoria, with seven gallery spaces and a changing exhibition program that offers a blend of unique local perspectives, curated exhibitions of note and artworks from our collection.

Our dedicated space for children to create and experience art, inspired by our exhibitions and collections, is sure to delight. We also produce a dynamic public program of events, exhibitions tours, workshops and art education programs.

LRG COLLECTION: INDUSTRY Take a peek inside our collections and discover the themes and ideas behind them. ART & INDUSTRY. LRG is situated in Morwell in the Latrobe Valley of Victoria, home to the major electricity generating plants of Hazelwood, Yallourn and Loy Yang.

The Art Trail provides an opportunity for parents and guardians with kids to take a closer look at selected artworks, start conversations about art, and enjoy creating images in response to the methods and themes discussed.

Friendly Country, Friendly People – Art from Papunya Tula Thirty years ago, ‘Friendly Country, Friendly People’ was developed as a national touring exhibition by Araluen Arts Centre. Fortunately for viewers today, The Cbus Collection of Australian Art acquired the entire exhibition.

In the tradition of the salon exhibitions of yesteryear, where a myriad of artworks and people would be brought together, judged, and prized, Latrobe City Art Salon is an exhibition of works from Morwell Art Group, Traralgon and District Art Society, and Moe Art Society curated by the Latrobe Regional Gallery creative team.

Join LRG Senior Curator David O’Halloran for a walk through Any Which Way, an installed video work by Leigh Hobba. Leigh Hobba is a very significant artist in the development of Australian video art as both a teacher and as an artist.

Often when LRG loan works from major galleries or renowned artists, 12-24 months of climate data is required to prove that the gallery can maintain atmospheric control so as not to harm the art in our charge.
