Apr 28, 2015 · The LFE channel is an independent channel containing up to 120Hz content, therefore the LPF should be at 120Hz, or LFE content will be missing. Then there's the crossover used in bass management, which would be the more room/speaker dependant function, as it controls how much LF material is crossed over from the mains to the sub.

Apr 19, 2017 · The 'LPF of LFE' filter is ONLY applied to the LFE channel (the .1 channel) info and not to the other bass managed bass from the other channels. So, you could have a 80Hz crossover set for your main channels, which would low-pass that bass at 80Hz, but have the LFE channel being low-passed at 120Hz by the 'LPF of LFE'.

May 13, 2019 · The owner's manual will likely indicate that setting the LPF control on the sub to "LFE" means the control is bypassed. If your AVR handles bass management (and any newer AVR will), generally-speaking you do want to bypass the sub's LPF. Apr 15, 2011 · In one case the LFE is LPF at the same frequency as the global Xover frequency. In the other case the subwoofer gets the LFE low pass filtered at the frequency that is dedicated to the LFE channel - and it seems that is usually set "high" at 120 Hz.

Sep 12, 2010 · The LFE channel has been separately filtered by the LPF of LFE before being combined with the re-directed bass from the main channels. The LPF of LFE is not a "crossover" per se. It is *just* a Low Pass Filter applied *only* to the LFE channel. It should always be set to 120 Hz. Only newer receivers even have a LPF of LFE.

I'm wondering as I sold my subwoofer due to lack of space, I have 2 front towers, 1 center, and 2 surrounds, all Cantons. Before removing the subwoofer I had set the fronts to small with crossover of 50.
