The Kishore Scholarship Fund was established in 2015 to honor the memory of Kris Kishore and the unique impact he had on the University community through his legendary love of learning, dedication to service and selfless leadership.

To honor Kris’s memory and continue his legacy of friendship, several friends from near and far—with the blessing and support of Kris’s wife, Katie, and sister Rekha—are leading an effort to establish a scholarship in Kris’s memory that we are affectionately calling “The Kishore.”

Krishna “Kris” Kishore (Col ’95, Educ ’02 L/M) of Charlottesville died April 25, 2014. At the University, he volunteered with Madison House, was a resident advisor and a member of the Indian Student Association and the University Guides.

Feb 14, 2020 · Kishore, a midfielder, totaled 18 goals and 13 assists and started 84 games in soccer. She was a second-team All-ACC pick in 2000 and later played professionally for the New York Power in the Women’s United Soccer Association. Kishore, 40, is the latest former UVA student-athlete to be featured in a VirginiaSports.com alumni series.

The COVID crises cancelled this year’s K-Fest, an annual gathering in remembrance and celebration of Kris Kishore and the community he created. The Scholarship Committee and Kris’s family and friends look forward to celebrating in April 2021.

Kris was brilliant--an intellectual, you might say--one of the smartest men I knew, and one who could have done anything in this world, and he chose to teach. He was an inspiring teacher, and his humility led to his greatness in the classroom.
