Knights of the Dinner Table® magazine was accidentally created by Jolly R. Blackburn way back in 1990 as 'filler' for his small press magazine, Shadis™. It was something of a 'creative burp' and Jolly really didn't give it much thought.

Back in '99 I was living in an Untouchable Trio of roommates. I was the DM, we eventually got a +1, we played 4 nights a week and always managed to scrape together enough money to buy and share the most recent KoDT issue. These were really happy times.

Once the Knights stopped being simple gamer stereotypes and started being actual characters, the KODT writers began to introduce other gamer groups to be able to explore funny gamer situations that just wouldn't happen at the Knights table.
