Aug 29, 2012 · I called Kimber and the solution is: “Always use lots of oil. To get the rust off, get some Flitz polish and soft cloth and rub it off. Or use a super fine steel wool pad and rub it off. Add lots of oil. If the rust comes back you can send us your 1911 and ‘we will decide’ if it is an item covered under warranty.” THANKS KIMBER!!

Nov 5, 2012 · I am no Kimber fanboy nor a kimber hater either.Corrosion of carbon steel is neglect.Proper care of a tool that you will possibly rely on to protect you & the ones you love is paramount.Regular cleaning & lubrication equals no rust.That being said for the cost of a Kimber I don't understand why the barrels in some models aren't stainless.

Aug 20, 2012 · According to Kimber's owners manual, ALL metal parts, even STAINLESS STEEL should be lightly lubricated because RUST IS NEGLECT. Kimber's emphasis, not mine. Their warranty does NOT cover corrosion. According to Kimber, corrosion is neglect. OBTW, your barrel is plain carbon steel in the white, not stainless.
