Dec 3, 2018 · The project is the concept of and will be led by international and Leeds-based curator Kerry Harker. The ELP is a way to think through the issue of deprived ‘east ends’ that many cities across Europe have in common, linking and exploring an issue shared between Leeds, Paris and Helsinki (and London and Glasgow).

I studied BA Fine Art at Leeds from 1990 to 1994, and then went straight into an MA in Feminism and the Visual Arts with Professor Griselda Pollock. Those five years were formative, challenging and inspiring.

Dr Kerry Harker is Leeds-based curator, writer and researcher. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of the East Leeds Project (2017- ) a visual arts organisation based in Gipton.

By Founder and Director Kerry Harker. Through the East Leeds Project I want to open up a creative conversation about what life is like in the east of the city, and how it might develop into the future, questioning ideas around community, identity, sustainability, and participation.

Kerry Harker-Roth teaches viola and string methods (undergraduate and graduate). She currently is assistant principal viola of the York Symphony Orchestra and performs in the Harrisburg/York area.
