There is a large telecommunications mast on top and hence a well maintained, but untarred, roadway to the top. The easiest route is from Ballyhourigan Wood, near the small village of Killoscully.

Located between at the eastern side of the Silvermines Mountains, Keeper hill is the highest mountain in the Shannon area. On clear days the views of Tipperary and beyond are spectacular.
