The Precipice of Fate is the clifftop Heihachi Mishima threw his five-year-old son, Kazuya Mishima, off. It is the same clifftop Kazuya would later throw Heihachi off twenty-one years later, in his Tekken 1 ending. The original clifftop is shown overlooking vast flat forests and a river.

After this, Heihachi threw Kazuya off a cliff when he was five years old, causing the huge scar across his chest. This caused his Devil powers to activate, turning him away from his peaceful nature to become ruthless and cold. Ever since that event, Kazuya has wanted to kill Heihachi.

Back in ye olden days it was actually the literal Devil and not the Devil Gene that gave Kazuya (and later, Jin) satan powers. Originally, Heihachi threw Kazuya off the cliff to prove his strength, but then the Devil showed up and granted him big power but turned him into evil badguy.
