In 2018, Kater received the Cottrell Scholar Award and an NSF CAREER Award. I earned my PhD in theoretical quantum optics from Louisiana State University in the summer of 2024, where I worked on imaging and sensing with quantum states of light, open quantum systems, and quantum networks.

Apr 12, 2021 · Kater Murch has been promoted to full professor effective July 1, 2021. Murch’s research focuses on the interface of Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) and condensed matter physics. Using nano-fabrication techniques to construct superconducting quantum circuits allows his group to probe fundamental questions in quantum mechanics.
