If you're referring to Mercedes Ruehl as Kate Costas in point #1, neither the actress nor character are Italian-American. Costas is more likely a Spanish surname (possibly Greek) and Ruehl has Cuban, Irish, and German heritage. As for the worst character, it's gotta be Gertrude Moon. Horrible, selfish woman.
