Before the power for the KCS office car train was painted in the "Retro Belle" scheme, it wore more subdued garb. Here we see it at Kansas Citys Knoche yard, without the F9B. I caught the KCS business train at Knoche on Sunday while waiting on freight.

Here was the train at Gonzales with FP9’s 1 and 2, an office car, two support cars, another office car, a diner and a third office car. Cab shot of KCS 1. Originally named "Meridian", it now bears the heritage Belle scheme, and named "Shreveport". while kids were looking for Santa, I was looking for a F-Unit...and I found it!

The beautiful FP9's and F9B with the Royal Canadian Pacific equipment make their way up to Olive Street on the North Main at the west end of the Joint Agency Knoche Yard with KCS running as CP Train 40B-26.

The FP9 was the last carbody loco made by EMD, most being made in Canada. Kansas City Southern has a few of them in immaculate condition for pulling executive trains and the odd excursion. The model is 34 studs long, 6 wide, no train weights and currently unpowered, but that's easy to correct.

The KCS business train at Kansas City Union Station on August 15, 2004. FP9A KCS 1 was built as Canadian National 6512 in 1955, and was rebuilt for KCS by Mid-America Car in Kansas City.
