Jul 12, 2021 · Haven't compared them but the specs suggest the JV52 are warmer and hotter than JV, closer to 60s specs. JHZ would have a more modern definition to due the steal loaded blade assembly. All EMGs are hum cancelling. So you're either looking at the JV for the classic tone requirement, or JHZ for the bigger low end requirement.

Feb 21, 2025 · Edit: I just re-read this and realized you have the first generation Legend 5 with the JHZ at the neck. In this case, you have to do a little homework. Take out your J pickup and verify which one it is. I have a feeling it will be a SJHZ.

I contacted EMG to see what they could offer because the output difference between my P- Bass and Jazz was significant like going from active pickups to passive. I was offered a set of EMG pickups with a JHZ neck and the GZR bridge both with exposed pole pieces and I immediately jumped on it.
