May 6, 2012 · Hi, I changed the oil in my 08 jetta 2.5 on friday and now it's dripping very slowly from the drain plug. Maybe like a drop every hour or 3. I used a Dorman 090-171 plug tightened to 22 ft-lbs. I later tightened it to 30, but it keeps dripping. Removing the previous plug (done at a 9-minute oil change) was a real pain.

May 27, 2008 · I am looking to change the oil on our new Jetta at 1000 miles. I already purchased the oil and filter (both OEM) but can not find out what size the drain plug is. Can anyone confirm the size?

Aug 24, 2021 · The 2019 VW Jetta 1.4L Engine requires SAE 0W-20 meets VW 508 00 oil. The only oil meets this criteria is Castro Edge Long Life -IV which is insanely expensive. All other popular brand like Mobil1, Pennzoil, etc doesn't have VW 508 00 rating.

Jul 24, 2013 · We usually sell the whole drain plug though because, since the original crush washer is captive on the drain plug, we have seen too many times a customer come in with the captive washer AND the replacement washer on the drain plug complaining of an oil leak.

Apr 3, 2005 · Are you guys referring to the copper crush washers that can be cut off & replaced? The last drain plug I bought from VW (part #N-908-132-01) has a permanent steel non-removable washer. It will never deform when the drain plug is torqued to 22 ft/lbs.
