Apr 9, 2017 · Done ! Took me about a full day to get it done. The ball joint press was a help and a hindrance. Had to make a couple trips to the hardware store to get some thick washers to create shims to help the bottom joints out. The set I rented didn't have the correct part. The angles also caused some issues when trying to press in the upper joints.

Oct 24, 2018 · That would have to be up to you. The OEM ball joints seem very inconsistent. Some last for a long time, other (like my sister in-laws) go bad in under 30,000 miles. I went with aftermarket ball joints, but everyone has to make their own choice on that. I would rather pay out of pocket and have peace of mind. I went with TF ball joints.

May 20, 2020 · You can always dimple the ball joint if you need knurled. Use a nail set and a hammer, dimple the shaft in a 6-8 lines of dimples. Works great. Usually, what I have seen is one side is fine with non knurled and the other side is a bit loose. On my JK, the passengers upper needed to be dimpled, the rest of them were fine smooth.

TJ ball joints are at a bit of an angle so try to get the Dana 44 adapter kit along with the ball joint removal tool to make it a lot easier. I'd install nothing but the OE Spicer 706944X which is ...
